Baylor University study explains why people leave North Bay

The Baylor University study on how to help North Bay grow, finds many people like the community.  But many leave mostly because there aren’t enough job opportunities and the second reason is the high cost of living.

Although these are negative numbers, one author of the study, Jared Haney, says the municipality can learn from this.  He says there’s a danger if nothing is done and the first step is to recognize there’s a problem with people leaving.

Then you start working on how to get them back.  Haney says attracting industry is extremely competitive and the key to successfully attracting outside industry is for North Bay to stay ahead of other communities in this area.

The study now moves into phase two which focuses on several elements including how to sell North Bay to new businesses.   The Texan university will come back to North Bay with recommendations in May.
