Nine area companies are sharing over $3.6 million in Northern Ontario Heritage Funding.
The provincial money is going to firms in the mining, manufacturing, digital economy and forestry sectors.
“By investing in projects from varied sectors, our government is promoting a more diverse economy and supporting job creation in Nipissing,” says Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “It’s one more way we are signalling to the world that Northern Ontario is open for business.”
- $1,132,558 to Miller Technology Inc. in North Bay to develop prototypes of the EV low-back grader to be used for underground mining, and to purchase new equipment to expand operations
- $803,957 to Janveaux Forest Products Ltd. in Mattawa to purchase new equipment to expand its operations
- $523,345 to Think On Inc. to expand its operation to create a Security Operations Centre in North Bay
- $353,040 to Driller’s Edge to help purchase automated equipment to update and modernize its operations
- $250,000 to Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc. to develop a new tire handling tool to safely install and remove heavy haul truck tires
- $241,500 to Pneuma-Tools Inc. to test a series of new clean-tech, fully synthetic rock- drill oils for use in underground mining to increase production, and improve health and safety
- $158,855 to North Bay Machining Centre Inc. to purchase new equipment to expand its operations
- $50,035 to Boart Longyear Canada to build a prototype of a dual-tube drill rod that is lighter and performs better than existing drill rods
- $43,000 to Rejean Bedard Logging Ltd. in Mattawa to purchase new equipment and expand operations
“This is a huge help in increasing our production capacity, export sales, research and development, as well as job creation in the North,” says J. Daniel Bachand, President of Miller Technology Incorporated.
“With this funding, ThinkOn will build a world-class Security Operations Centre which will support economic growth and create high-quality tech jobs for the residents of North Bay,” says Craig McLellan, Founder and CEO, ThinkOn.
Fedeli says the investment will help support job creation, boost economic growth, and improve quality of life in Nipissing.
