North Bay Fire and Emergency Services is looking to the community to help Fill-a-Fire Truck with non-perishable food donations.
They’ll have a fire truck set up outside of Parker’s Your Independent Grocer on Wednesday, Oct 12 from 10 am to 6 pm.
Along with non-perishable food and monetary donations, personal hygiene items can also be donated.
The ‘Fill-a-Fire Truck’ event is supporting the North Bay Food Bank.
Fire crews will be on-site with information handouts and giveaways for the kids.
This is also Fire Prevention Week with the theme “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape!!”
“Due to building materials and various types of combustibles being used in our homes, house fires are becoming exponentially more dangerous and are developing at a much faster rate,” states a release. “Always prepare for a minimum of two ways out of your home/building from every room or area and ensure your kids/visitors are taught this as well.”
With the ‘Fill-a-Fire Truck’ food drive, officials say some of the most needed items include various canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, peanut-free lunch snacks for kids and much more.
