Home sales decline in September locally

Last month saw the lowest level of home sales for a September locally in over two decades.

That from the North Bay Real Estate Board which says the 82 units sold through the MLS system were down nearly 33% compared to September last year.

Year-to-date, home sales total 966, which is down just over 23%.

The board does say average prices are still up, though.

The average price of homes sold in September 2022 was just under $420,000, an increase of 3.9% from September 2021.

Year-to-date, the average price was over $474,000.

That’s up by 22% compared to the same time frame in 2021.

Across the country, home sales continued to slow last month.

The Canadian Real Estate Association says sales in September were down 3.9% compared with August.

The actual national average home price was $640,479 in September, down 6.6% compared with the same month last year.
