Ontario Provincial Police are investigating what they are calling a “serious assault of a pedestrian” on Highway 64 in West Nipissing.
Nipissing West OPP say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and then assaulted by the people in the vehicle around 2:30 am on October 16, 2022.
Police say the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
OPP report the highway was closed in both directions for approximately three hours while the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team processed the scene.
Investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety, but the OPP reminds members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
