North Bay council has started the lengthy process of turning Casselholme into a non-profit agency. At the local level, council has agreed to a letter of intent to move the process forward.
However turning the nursing home into a non-profit operation is something all the member municipalities have to agree to. KPMG was hired earlier this year to find ways of reducing costs and recommended the non-profit scenario.
If all the municipalities agree, there will be another financial review and the last step would be the stamp of approval from the provincial government.
