Damages ‘significant’ after house fire on Pollard Ave

A family of eight has been displaced after a house fire on Pollard Avenue Thursday night.

City fire crews responded around 10 pm and found the fire had spread throughout the home and into the attic.

“Thankfully, all the occupants of the home had safely evacuated,” says Greg Saunders, Deputy Fire Chief. “Firefighters entered the home, worked incredibly hard, and extinguished the fire.   Unfortunately, the house had already suffered significant damage.”

Saunders says Near North Victim Services attended the scene and is looking after the immediate needs of the family.

He also says the fire investigator with North Bay Fire and Emergency Services and the North Bay Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
