Provincial funding for Mattawa General Hospital

The Mattawa General Hospital is getting provincial funding to help keep seniors out of the hospital.

$65,000 is supporting both admission avoidance and discharge planning for 150 seniors to return to the community.

“Our government is investing in building a stronger, more resilient health system as part of our Plan to Stay Open: Health System and Recovery,” said Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP.  “Today’s funding will support the Mattawa General Hospital to preserve their hospital capacity.”

Pierre Noel, Mattawa General Hospital President and CEO says they’re happy to receive the money.

“This funding will go a long way towards helping to keep our seniors out of hospital and able to access supports to enable them to continue to live at home,” he says.

Across Ontario, the province says its supporting innovative models of care with over $64 million in one-time funding this year to help reduce Alternate Level of Care (ALC) and support patient flow from hospitals to more appropriate care settings.
