Applications are now being accepted by the North Bay Santa Fund for those in need.
For 75 years the Santa Fund has provided hampers of food and toys to families during the holiday season.
According to their website, the fundraising goal this year is $217,000.
“This year, however, is like nothing we’ve faced in recent years,” states a release. “Inflation has impacted our costs like never before. We will need everyone to dig a little deeper to help our fellow citizens.”
Applications can be made online at santafund.ca or in person at the Low Income People Involvement office, located at 127 Main Street East.
The deadline is Dec. 9.
That’s also the day of the Moose and Country FM Radiothon, raising money for the North Bay Santa Fund.
The fundraiser takes place from 6 am to 6 pm that day.
Packing of baskets will take place Dec. 22 with delivery the next day.
“This year we are partnering with the Canadore College who have given us access to the Commerce Court campus for packing and delivery day,” says Santa Fund Co-Chair, Geoff Richardson.
Pre-selected teams were involved the past couple of years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the public is once again being invited to help out this year.
“The heart and soul of the Santa Fund is having the community involved, we can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces,” says Santa Fund Co-Chair Tracy Sloan.
Donations can also be made online or from Dec. 9-23 at the Nugget, located at 259 Worthington Street.
