Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade is back on the road drumming up business for the province.
Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP, is in India this week.
“We expect to meet with a lot of tech companies, a lot of pharmaceutical companies, we’ll meet a little bit in the film industry,” he says. “Primarily I’ll be talking to companies who want to look at processing our critical minerals here in Northern Ontario as well as companies who are interested in electric vehicles and electric vehicle batteries.”
Fedeli says they’ve had successful missions to India in the past, noting their last in-person trip three years ago brought home a 500-person tech company to Southern Ontario.
“Our next year we did the mission virtually and brought home Infosys, another 500-person company,” he says. “Last year we did it virtually and Tata Consultancy Services is now hiring 5,000 employees across Canada and most will work from their home.”
Fedeli also took part in two other trade missions this year.
He traveled to Austria and Germany in September then to South Korea and Japan in October.
