Radiothon raising funds and awareness for the Santa Fund

The Santa Fund Radiothon returns on Friday, Dec. 9 to Country 90.5 FM and 106.3 Moose FM.

From 6 am to 6 pm, both Vista Radio stations will be raising awareness and funds for the 75th annual North Bay Santa Fund.

“There’s a lot of people that need a Christmas miracle and we’re going to make that happen,” says Mike Monaghan, 106.3 Moose FM morning host.

He says this is the 16th year of the radiothon and the community has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over those years.

“We call it the kickoff to the season, the Santa Fund season, and we just have a blast with so many great guests coming in,” says Monaghan.

Kevin Oschefski, morning host on Country 90.5 FM, says the need is great this year.

“The need is always there but as we all know the cost of everything has gone up and certainly the Santa Fund is going to feel that as well,” he says. “The important thing is that we find a way to dig deep so that everybody in our community, our neighbours in need, get to celebrate a merry Christmas as they should.”

The twelve-hour fundraising event will include special programming, guests, performers and auction items, including a few vases from John Candy’s widow and sold-out concert tickets.

Along with the radiothon, donations to the North Bay Santa Fund can be dropped off at the Nugget on Worthington or made online at santafund.ca
