Nine area organizations are getting just over a million dollars from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Seven are capital grants while two groups are receiving money to help recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
“Non-profit organizations are a valued part of our community here in Nipissing,” says Vic Fedeli, MPP. “Today’s funding has allowed organizations to continue providing services through COVID-19 and others to increase their capacity to provide important services to the community.”
Local recipients of OTF’s Capital Grant include:
– $150,000 for the North Bay Nordic Ski Club to assist with the purchase of a ski trail groomer
– $150,000 for the Municipality of East Ferris to address community needs by adding 14km of active transportation infrastructure
– $150,000 for Club Action 50+ East Ferris to update the kitchen of the Corbeil Park Hall
– $149,000 for the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario to purchase new cardio and strength training equipment
– $59,700 for Community Living North Bay to repair their roof
– $27,000 for the Gathering Place for the purchase and installation of a new oven for the soup kitchen
– $22,400 for the North Bay and Area Potters Guild to purchase a range of equipment to improve quality and sustainability of services at the guild studio
Local recipients of OTF’s Community Resilient Grant include:
– $193,800 for Les Compagnons des Francs loisirs to help recover from the impacts of COVID-19 by hiring staff to develop and implement new strategies and marketing plans
– $131,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Bay and District, to recover from the impacts of COVID-19 by hiring a caseworker and providing health and wellness supports to staff, volunteers and clients to improve their physical and mental strength.
