Handguns seized by police in separate incidents

Three men, including one from North Bay, are facing several weapons-related charges.

The North Bay Police Service says after receiving a traffic complaint on Dec. 9, Ontario Provincial Police located the vehicle at a gas station on Algonquin Avenue. 

City police say after their officers arrived, numerous open and empty alcohol containers were seen in the vehicle.  

A handgun, loaded magazine, a crossbow, two pre-rolled joints and two 750mL bottles of alcohol were seized. 

A 46-year-old city man and a 22-year-old man from St Catharines face six charges each, while a 26-year-old man from Welland faces a dozen charges. 

The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.

The North Bay Police Service also reports a loaded handgun and about $2,000 worth of suspected drugs after a traffic stop on the weekend.  

City police say officers stopped a vehicle Saturday on Main Street West, with a passenger arrested. 

A 22-year-old man from Toronto faces 10 charges in all, including carrying a concealed weapon and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. 

Suspected Fentanyl, Oxycodone pills and cannabis were confiscated, according to police. 

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
