One of North Bay’s outdoor rinks is open.
The Greenhill Playground Rink is reported in good condition on the city’s website.
Crews will be working on opening other rinks around the city as soon as the weather allows.
“Cooler weather and snow is in the forecast and crews are hopeful they will be able to open more rinks over the next couple of weeks,” states a release. “The City plans to maintain a total of 11 outdoor rinks this winter,
including the Lee Park Skating Trail and the Circle Lake Rink, which was closed last season due to construction.”
The skating trail is expected to open in phases again.
Officials with the city says a portion of the Kate Pace Way will also be used as a 2.8 km winter trail between Lee Park and Marshall Avenue, weather permitting.
It’ll be available for walking, snowshoeing and other non-motorized recreational activities.
