UPDATE: North Bay Police investigating early morning homicide

UPDATE 7:20 PM :

The victim of this morning’s homicide investigation has been named. NBPS says 33-year-old Tristan Ayers of North Bay was found suffering from serious injuries at approximately 2:20 am in the area of Fraser Street and Worthington Street West. He was transported to the North Bay Regional Health Centre where he succumbed to his injuries.

The homicide investigation is ongoing. Police say no arrests have been made at this time, however, based on the investigation it’s believed that this was not a random act and therefore there is no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information that may assist the police with this investigation is asked to call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and select option 9 to speak to a police officer. The North Bay Police Service is currently involved in an active investigation into a homicide which occurred early this morning (Sat, Dec. 17). As part of the investigation there is an increased police presence in the area of Fraser Street between Worthington Street West and Second Avenue West.

As a result, the following roadways are currently closed to both pedestrian and vehicular
traffic including:
– Fraser Street between Worthington Street West to Second Avenue West; and
– First Avenue West between Ferguson Street and Fraser Street.
The public is asked to avoid this area.

At this time it is not believed that there is a threat to the public.
