Lake Nipissing is one of the top nine ice fishing destinations in Canada.
The 2023 list was compiled by FishingBooker.com.
“With a total surface area of 873 square kilometres, this frozen paradise harbors many exciting species and productive ice fishing spots,” states the blog post.
The article goes on to say the lake is known for its “amazing Walleye population” as well as Northern Pike and Perch among others.
Ice fishing season opened on January 1 and closes on March 15.

There are four times a year that Canadian residents can fish license-free in Ontario, including Family Fishing Weekend which is Feb. 18-20, 2023.
Two other Ontario waterbodies are included in the FishingBooker.com list including Lake Erie and Bay of Quinte.
