Sturgeon Falls schools initiate hold and secure before Wednesday arrest

A West Nipissing resident has been charged after a police investigation into threats made over social media. 

The OPP started investigating at 9:44 am on Jan. 25 with all schools in Sturgeon Falls advised of the situation. 

The schools then initiated hold and secure procedures, which police say ended shortly after an arrest was made. 

School boards confirmed to parents the situation was resolved by 11:30 am.

The 35-year-old West Nipissing resident is charged with uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm. 

The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 26, in North Bay.
