Project aiming to improve access to transit stops continues

The city is outlining which roadways will see sidewalk improvements this year as part of a multi-year project aimed at improving access to existing transit stops.

They include:
– Norman Avenue between Dellandrea Drive and Rancier Street
– Georgian Road between Gertrude Street and Prince Edward Drive
– Prince Edward Drive between Georgian Road and Marshall Avenue

Work will include the construction of new concrete sidewalks, as well as new storm sewers/ditches, curb and gutter, restoration, and more.

Bids are being accepted until Feb. 17 and the work is tentatively scheduled to start this spring.

The city says since the launch of the project in 2021, approximately 2.7 kilometres of new sidewalks have been added in various locations throughout the city.

They include sections of Airport Road, Lakeside Drive, Lindsay Street, Johnston Road and Giroux Street.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026 with future works to include sections of Commerce Crescent, and Wallace Road.
