The Near North Board is inviting the community to help name North Bay’s newest elementary school.
The new school, under construction on the former W.J. Fricker school site on Norman Avenue, is slated to open this September.
A school naming committee has been formed and will bring a recommendation forward to the board with up to three names, based on feedback received from all stakeholders.
The new JK to Grade 6 school, which will also include the Grade 5/6 Extended French Program is the result of the consolidation of three schools, E.W. Norman, E.T. Carmichael and W.J. Fricker.
The deadline for submissions, which should include the reason for the name, background or history, is Feb. 27.
Individuals or groups are invited to help name the new school in accordance with the following guidelines:
– the street on which the facility is located;
– the area which the facility serves;
– a geographical feature specific to Near North District School Board;
– wording that is supportive of the Board’s mission, vision and Multi-Year Strategic Plan, meets the best interests of the school’s students and is culturally responsive to the community
Submissions can be made online by clicking THIS LINK or they can be dropped off in writing by 4 pm Feb. 27 to the attention of: The New North Bay Public School Naming Committee, Near North District School Board Office, 963 Airport Rd., North Bay, ON.
