There are some tough words from the NDP MPP for Nickel Belt. France Gelinas says it’s time the board members of the Local Health Integration Networks were elected instead of being appointed by the Wynne Liberals.
Gelinas says as appointees, the directors are very friendly towards the Liberals. Gelinas claims this means when issues come up, the board will usually come to the rescue of the Ministry of Health and government instead of putting public health first.
She believes an elected board would change this by making the directors more transparent and accountable.
