Job postings in Nipissing were up “significantly” month-over-month in January.
The Labour Market Group (LMG) reports 519 job postings that month, up nearly 36 % from December.
“This month-over-month increase is largely attributed to seasonal trends coming out of the holiday season,” states the LMG jobs report.
Officials say a positive sign is that for the second consecutive month, year-over-year figures are comparable to last year.
The top five employers posting jobs included:
– North Bay Regional Health Centre
– Near North District School Board
– Cascades Casino
– Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc.
– West Nipissing General Hospital
Health Care & Social Assistance was the top hiring industry, followed by Retail Trade.
Accommodation & Food Services was a distant third.
