Nipissing Hospices receive addiontial funding

Two local hospices are getting some additional funding.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today that Ontario will be providing $271,600 in additional one-time funding for nursing, personal support and other services delivered to patients.
The following funding breakdown is as follows:

  • Nipissing Serenity Hospice – $236,500 – a 45% top-up increase from base funding. Total 2022-23 funding: $1,286,500
  • Mattawa Hospital – $35,100 – a 67% top-up increase from base funding. Total 2022-23 funding: $140,100

Officials say funding is intended to support and sustain existing residential hospice capacity, through an increased operational funding rate for ministry-approved and open beds.

“This investment will help local patients receive the respect, dignity and care they deserve at every stage of their lives, while ensuring Nipissing Serenity Hospice and the Mattawa Hospital have the tools they need to continue to provide high-quality care. Everyone should have access to dignified end-of-life care that respects the wishes of the patient and their loved ones. That’s why, our government is committed to improving access to comfortable, end-of-life care in communities across the province including here in Nipissing.” says MPP Vic Fedeli.
