Officials with Clean Green Beautiful North Bay (CGB) say the group is entering its fifth year of community stewardship and creating beauty in public, private and unexpected places.
Along with two community weeding blitzes, over 23,000 bags of litter have been picked up by CGB volunteers to date, with five community orchards planted along with hundreds of trees added to the city’s canopy.
“Participation of our citizens on all levels has been outstanding,” says Hariett Madigan, CGB Chair. “We have so many ongoing and new initiatives planned for the year, and we can’t wait to see how our community joins in.”
A presentation to Council in December detailed what is planned for 2023.
Along with taking part in Communities in Bloom, initiatives include community gardens, disposal bins and public art, a storm sewer program and a community sustainability fair.
CGB says 65 crews were picking up litter on a regular basis last year.
Bag deliveries kicked off on March 13 and can be ordered online at www.cleangreenbeautiful.com.
