Nipissing students raise over $24,200 for cancer research

For the first time in a couple of years, Nipissing University students held their full-scale Relay for Life, raising money for cancer research.

Over $24,200 was raised as a part of the March 10 event.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our committee this year. They’ve done some amazing work and it has been fantastic to see it pay off”, says Sav Searle, Relay Co-Captain.

Teams walked a track overnight and took part in a number of events and ceremonies to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer.

“Last year, we were able to crush our goal by roughly $3,000, and this year we are almost over by $5,000. The Nipissing Lakers family truly surprises us in the best way each year,” says Searle.

In the past 14 years, the club has raised more than $200,000 for the Canadian Cancer society.
