Two local radio hosts are among those being recognized with the Davedi Order of Merit this year.
Officials say the award recognizes outstanding individuals who have volunteered their services to the community in the areas of the arts, music, sports, health, education, and charities.
Morning show hosts Mike Monaghan, with 106.3 Moose FM and Country 90.5 FM’s Kevin Oschefski are being recognized.
“It’s an honour,” says Monaghan. “I love the Davedi Club, I do a lot of events there and they are always so welcoming. They always go out of their way to include everybody in the community in their events.”
Oschefski says he’s humbled by the honour.
“I see the other names of the people who have been given this honour in the past and I think, wow, I don’t consider myself to be alongside many of those people,” he says. “But I certainly am touched and I accept it with all the grace.”
The Vest Project’s Cindy D’Agostino and Lori Burns, and the late George Martyn are also being honoured this year.
A recognition dinner is being held at the Davedli Club on April 22.
