Public input sought on shortlist of names for new school

The list of potential names for a new elementary school in North Bay has been whittled down to three.

The Near North District School Board’s Naming Committee says they include:
– Graniteville Public School
– Maple View Public School
– Trout Lake Public School

The school is being built on the former W.J. Fricker Public School site on Norman Avenue and is scheduled to open this September.

Officials say from the many suggestions received, the most common theme conveys the natural beauty of the geography.

Public input is once again being sought, by April 3, to help the committee and the Near North Board of Trustees with their final deliberations in choosing the new school’s name.

Input can be offered at the following link: https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=sKPKifIHuUa3UOlzFotsTuB80NKaI3ZAmKE7I5SrsCFURDlNRVhZMVdXUkNMTEJJQjNLR0xYVjBXUi4u

After further deliberations, the committee will then put forward a recommendation to the Near North Board of Trustees for a final decision.
