Community generosity tops $96,000 in Kev’s Kids fundraiser

Kev’s Kids radio marathon has raised over $96,400 in support of Rotary4Kids.

Country 90.5 FM morning show host Kevin Oschefski announced the total at the end of his 29-hour broadcast on Friday morning at the North Bay YMCA.

“We kicked it off with a media release about a week and a half ago and I said I will never announce a goal because I would hate for us to not reach that number and we think that it didn’t work,” he says. “I tell you, we reached our goal.”

The money goes to support children and youth with special needs in our community, with the purchase of assistive devices, programming, uninsured medical costs and more.

Jeff Rogerson, Rotary4Kids Chair, says the community has been super generous.

“It’s inspiring sitting in the studio and watching the youngsters come in with their allowance, birthday money and making donations,” he says. “Schools have been absolutely fantastic.”

Rogerson pointed out that seven-year-old Rotary4Kids ambassador Jillian Johnson’s school, Holy Cross, raised over $5,500 alone.

He adds that donations can be made all year round online.
