A month-long initiative targeting outstanding warrants has led to 81 people being arrested by the North Bay Police Service.
The enhanced enforcement initiative took place between March 11 and April 9 and resulted in a combined total of 360 outstanding charges being processed.
Police say some include:
– Failure to Appear for Court
– Failure to comply with conditions of release
– Violent crimes, including Assault with A Weapon and Sexual Assault
– Property crimes
– Impaired Driving
A dozen new charges were also filed by police including drug offences, robbery and obstruct police.
“This initiative, generated at the patrol level, is another great example of the work our officers do on a daily basis,” says Jeff Warner, Inspector with the North Bay Police Service. “Their efforts at seeking out, locating and arresting offenders who were wanted on a variety of offences while managing daily calls for service is commendable. These 81 offenders found out that North Bay is not an easy place to hide when attempting to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.”
Police say 39 of the accused were held for bail while others were released with future court dates.
