Traffic stop leads to gun and drug charges

A loaded handgun and about $40,000 in suspected illegal drugs were seized by city police on Thursday.

The North Bay Police Service says a traffic stop was conducted on Seymour St., with two people inside the vehicle arrested.

Along with the gun and ammunition, suspected Fentanyl and cash were seized.

A 21-year-old man from Toronto is facing eight charges including drug and weapons-related counts while a 40-year-old North Bay man is facing four charges including drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both were also charged with failing to comply with release orders. The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
