Local kids are benefiting from a Community Sport for All funding announcement.
$10,000 is going to the West Ferris Ringette Association and Physical and Health Education (PHE) Canada.
“Everyone in Nipissing-Timiskaming should have access to quality sport and physical activity opportunities,” says Anthony Rota, MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming. “Through this funding, we are building stronger and healthier communities in our riding, and right across the country.”
Money for PHE Canada will help students at St Alexander School connect with several community organizations to experience a variety of new physical activities.
The West Ferris Ringette Association (WFRA) will be reaching out to the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, OUTLoud North Bay, and the North Bay and District Multicultural Centre to offer clients and members free registration.
“We have a free equipment loan program, but we don’t loan items such as skates and helmets, so a portion of the money is earmarked to offset the costs of equipment that we don’t loan out,” says Kelli Van Buskirk with WFRA.
The Association also has a free ‘Come Try Ringette’ event at Pete Palangio Arena on May 2.
