Larger Canada Day fireworks display planned in North Bay

Over $32,000 in federal funding is helping several area communities celebrate various events this summer.  

Anthony Rota, MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming announced the Department of Canadian Heritage funding through the Celebrate Canada fund.  

The City of North Bay receives the bulk of the money.

$10,000 will go towards enhancing Canada Day celebrations including an even larger fireworks display.  

“These are important days to celebrate and recognize as a community,” says Rota. “The funding from the Celebrate Canada program gives us an opportunity to come together as a community and take part in events that reflect the history and culture of our region, and our country.”  

Les Compagnons des Francs Loisirs is getting $7,500 for various celebrations over the summer, including Indigenous Peoples Day, Saint-Jean Baptiste Day, Multiculturalism Day and Canada Day. 

East Ferris is using their $7,000 in funding for Saint-Jean Baptiste Day and Canada Day celebrations, $6,000 goes to Powassan to mark the country’s 156th birthday with over $3,000 going to Mattawa for Canada Day celebrations.
