The Heritage Railway and Carousel usually opens on Mother’s Day weekend but that’s not the case this year.
Officials with the waterfront attractions say the recent wet and cold weather delayed their annual clean-up so the plan is to open on the long weekend.
The hope is to be open from 10 am to dusk, Saturday, May 20 through Monday, May 22.
They’re also still looking for about a dozen volunteers to help operate the trains and carousel through October.
An open house for volunteers is taking place on Saturday, May 13 from 1-3 pm at the souvenir booth and caboose.
