It’s time to bundle up for a great cause. The Gathering Place has officially launched their third annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
People are encouraged to come out for the winter walk, which gives participants a small taste of what it feels like to be homeless. The Gathering Place hopes to raise $75,000 dollars this year, which will be put towards the soup kitchen’s daily programs. This fundraiser makes up almost one-third of the Gathering Place’s entire operating budget.
Executive Director Jill Clarke says the need is greater than ever, and expects they will serve up to 32,000 meals this year alone. Visit www.coldestnightoftheyear.org to sign up. The walk takes place Saturday, February 20th.
