There will be new coaches behind the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers bench next season.
Former NHLer and Centennials star Vitali Yachmenev has been named an associate coach with former bench boss Guy Blanchard named head coach.
The duo takes over for Doug Sanders, who resigned from the U18 head coaching position in late April.
Blanchard previously coached the Trappers to a Great North U18 title in 2018-19.
Yachmenev, who helped the North Bay Centennials win the OHL Championship in 1994 played 8 seasons in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators.
He brings seven years of coaching experience from the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia and spent a portion of a season as an associate coach with the Powassan Voodoos in 2018.
