Calling for provincial action on rising costs and more

Saturday is a province-wide day of action on rising costs and affordability.

A couple dozen rallies targeting the provincial government are planned across Ontario, including North Bay.

Henri Giroux, President of the North Bay and District Labour Council says they’re demanding real wage increases, affordable groceries, gas, and basic goods, rent control, affordable housing and more.

“You used to be able to go to the grocery store and get five bags of groceries for under $100. Now it almost $200-$300,” he says. “We’re saying that enough is enough they need to step up to the plate and do what needs to be done.”

The rally is at 4 pm on Saturday outside of MPP Vic Fedeli’s office on Main East.

Giroux says that will be followed by a panel discussion on all their concerns.

That event is taking place at Lou Dawg’s at 4:45 pm.
