Fifteen area groups are receiving provincial funding.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced the Ontario government is providing over $550,000 to seven local non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Community Fund and the Ontario Art Council.
Local recipients of the Resilient Community funding, to help build capacity, resilience and sustainability, include:
· $171,500 for Victim Services of Nipissing District
· $169,000 for Les Compagnons des francs loisirs
· $123,500 for Community Living Mattawa
· $36,900 for Nipissing Regional Curatorial Collective Incorporated
Ontario Art Council funding is going to:
· $15,000 for the Pakinewatik Collective for their Indigenous Arts Project – To write an original narrative feature-length film script and prepare this script for pitching and production.
· $12,500 for the Nipissing Regional Curatorial Collective for the 10th anniversary of the Ice Follies
· $12,000 for the Capitol Centre to support a city-wide music showcase of local artists titled ‘Local Love’ as part of our Bluesfest festival in September 2023.
· $12,000 for the On the Fringe Festival to support the coordination, promotion and presentation of their 10th annual festival in North Bay.
Fedeli also announced over $250,000 for eight seniors’ groups in Nipissing, to help seniors stay fit, healthy, and socially connected.
Recipients include:
· $25,000 for Les Compagnons
· $24,813 for Mattawa Wellness
· $19,410 for the Gurd and Area Historical Corporation (Commanda Museum)
· $12,376 for The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste Marie
· $51,438 for the East Ferris Club Action 50+
· $51,438 for the North Bay Golden Age
· $48,817 for the Mattawa Senior Citizen Club
· $12,557 for the Callander Elderly Persons Centre (RCL Branch 44)
