Two impaired charges after recent RIDE checks

Recent RIDE checks saw Ontario Provincial Police stop over 440 vehicles in our area.

The roadside checks for impaired driving were conducted around the area, including Powassan, Mattawa and North Bay, between June 6-17.

Along with 146 mandatory alcohol screening demands issued, the OPP says two drivers were charged with impaired and five three-day suspensions were issued.

Police say if you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive.

Instead, the OPP says arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan.
