Lifeguards only on duty at one city beach for the time being

A couple of area communities continue to actively recruit more lifeguards with ongoing challenges impacting two beaches in North Bay.

The city says lifeguards won’t be available until Aug. 1 at Olmsted Beach on Trout Lake and they won’t be on duty at all at the Birchaven Cove this year.

“Lifeguards will be on duty for the summer season starting [Friday] at Shabogesic Beach,” states a release. “Both Shabogesic Beach and Olmsted Beach will be supervised seven days a week from 12 pm until 7 pm.”

The city says as recruitment continues it will make the necessary adjustments to provide the best possible beach experience for everyone.

West Nipissing is also seeking lifeguards for the Community and Recreation Centre pool, including a lead lifeguard.

Job postings can be found in the careers section of both municipal websites.
