Heat warning closes Heritage Railway and Carousel Company for two days

The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company says due to the high temperatures and extreme high humidity forecasted, they will not be opening today or tomorrow.

Officials say the decision’s for the health and safety of all the riders, and the volunteers.
They expect to re-open on Thursday.

The decision follows a heat warning issued by Environment Canada for our area, with temperatures expected to soar to the high thirties with the humidex.

The weather agency says the heat risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Officials add to watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
