Charges filed after disturbance call on Yellek Trail

Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate after responding to a disturbance on Yellek Trail, Nipissing First Nation.  

The North Bay OPP says just after 7 pm on July 7, provincial police officers assisted members of the Anishinabek Police Service with the call.  

The OPP says when police arrived, a person with two edged weapons approached the officers in a threatening manner.  

The individual was disarmed and arrested with police saying there were no significant injuries.  

A 30-year-old resident of Nipissing First Nation has been charged with assault a peace officer, uttering threats and failure to comply with a release order.  

The accused has a July 12 court appearance in North Bay.
