The city says the contractor involved with the rehabilitation of the Lamorie Street bridge is expected to mobilize next week.
Work will then begin shortly afterward.
Officials say the bridge will be closed for an extended period of time starting later this month, with completion expected this fall.
“The work, which will extend the life of the Lamorie Street bridge, will include replacement of the asphalt surface, railing, and waterproofing systems; concrete patchwork and crack sealing of the bridge deck; and replacement of expansion joint seals,” states a release.
Officials say the closure will include the entire length of Lamorie Street, between Lakeshore Drive and Birchs Road.
Detours will be in place with access to local traffic maintained.
The city says the Booth Road and Lakeshore Drive intersection is expected to receive the largest volume of traffic so temporary traffic lights will be also installed for the duration of the project.
