(Update) Police continue to search for wanted person

The North Bay Police Service continues to search for a person wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

54-year-old Marc Gauthier is described as a white male, approximately 5’8’’ tall, about 160 pounds, bald, may be clean shaven and was last seen wearing jeans and a black t-shirt with a white logo on the back.

Police say Gauthier has not yet been located and they don’t believe he has left the City of North Bay, noting he doesn’t currently have access to a vehicle and is likely trying to flee the area.

“Members of the public should practice caution as they go about their daily activities,” states a release. “It is recommended that you be aware of your surroundings and keep vehicles and buildings locked as a precaution. However, police are not advising a lockdown or shelter-in-place at this time.”

Police say at about 4:30 pm on Monday, Gauthier fled police on foot after they stopped a vehicle on Fisher Street.

For several hours Monday night police were advising people to avoid the entire length of the Kate Pace Way, but lifted that advisory around 10 pm.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and press 9 to speak with an officer. If you wish to stay anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.nearnorthcrimestoppers.com

Police say Gauthier should be considered armed and dangerous and if he is seen, do not approach, call 911.
