Local theatre students getting ready for two summer productions

The curtain is about to rise on the first of two summer student musical productions locally.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is on stage later this week at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board’s Summer Challenge Program features students from grade 6 through grade 12.

“It’s been a really cool experience, that brought together a lot of really talented people,” says David Dunn, soon-to-be grade 12 student who portrays Percy. “It’s been a blessing to be a part of.”

Performances take place July 20-22.

Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door, Creative Learning and the front office of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.

Doors open each night at 6 pm with the show beginning at 7 pm.

In the meantime, Theatre Outreach on Stage (TOROS) continues to get ready for its August shows.

Tickets for the Near North District School Board’s TOROS production of Back to the 80’s The Totally Awesome Musical are $15.

Shows take place at the West Ferris Secondary School theatre from August 10-12 (7 pm) with a special matinee performance on August 13 at 2 pm.
