July 21 is Healthy Parks Healthy People Day in Ontario and a couple of area parks have events planned.
Ontario Parks is once again offering free day-use access to provincial parks to celebrate the occasion.
“This annual celebration is part of a global movement to promote the incredible health benefits of getting outside in nature,” says David Piccini, Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. “Studies show spending time in nature can improve our mental, physical, and social well-being, including lower blood pressure, increased self-esteem and reduced anxiety.”
Samuel de Champlain and Marten River Provincial Parks are both offering yoga on the beach.
There’s also a watercolour painting session at Marten River while Mattawa’s Samuel de Champlain also has a guided hike.
