Friday is World Hepatitis Day, and the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area is marking the occasion.
The committee is holding an awareness event and barbecue from 11 am-2 pm on Thursday at Leger Square outside of city hall.
Along with offering free testing for hepatitis C, there will be speeches from people with lived experience and information on viral hepatitis.
There’s also food, games, resources and giveaways.
This year’s theme for the campaign is “We’re not Waiting”, which highlights the need to accelerate the fight against viral hepatitis and the importance of testing and treatment.
Committee officials say local community partners will also be at the awareness event, offering information on their programs and services.
