A couple of area festivals are receiving provincial funding, including one that is taking place this weekend.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced Mattawa Voyageur Days (July 28-30) is getting over $76,000 through the Experience Ontario 2023 Program and $15,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation’s (NOHFC) Community Events Stream.
He also announced $15,000 through the NOHFC Community Events Stream for Bluesfest in North Bay, which runs Aug. 30 to Sep. 3.
“By investing in festivals and events, our government is increasing our community profile and promoting economic development in Nipissing,” says Fedeli. “Mattawa Voyageur Days and the Capitol Centre’s Bluesfest are annual events that many people travel to our region to experience, and we are looking forward to some excellent shows.”
He says the provincial investments will help showcase northern talent, boost local tourism and raise the profile of the music industry in Northern Ontario.
