A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, and spotted earlier this month in North Bay, has been arrested in Quebec.
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) says the latest update received Monday morning is that Marc Gauthier was taken into custody in Quebec City.
Officials are thanking the public for any information received during the investigation.
NBPS earlier reported that Gauthier fled from officers on July 17 after they stopped a vehicle on Fisher Street.
The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) says the arrest was made on July 30 in the Old Quebec area.
“At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a loaded prohibited firearm,” states a release.
Officials say he has a court appearance Monday (July 31) and in collaboration with the OPP, he should be returned to Ontario afterward.
In early July, the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad issued a release saying Gauthier was wanted for breach of statutory release on a 41-year sentence for numerous weapons possession and robbery counts.
The ROPE squad says he was also wanted by OPP for an armed robbery in Alliston.
