Two North Bay residents are facing a slew of drug trafficking charges after an OPP investigation that spanned 9 cities and two correctional facilities.
The accused join 21 others who are facing a combined 387 charges.
That’s according to OPP officials who say the investigation began in April of this year when they learned three crime groups were trafficking drugs and firearms into the GTA and Central and Northeastern Ontario.
14 search warrants were executed over two days in July, with officers seizing 29 firearms, 12 kilograms of fentanyl, 25 kilograms of cocaine, five kilograms of crystal meth, over a quarter-million methamphetamine tablets, nearly 300 thousand in cash and ten vehicles.
Officials say the street value of the drugs and firearms seized is over $8 million.
The investigation is ongoing.
“Illicit drugs and illegal firearms traffickers jeopardize the safety of our communities. The accused charged as a result of Project MOFFATT directly profited from violence and human suffering and show a complete lack of regard for the laws put in place to protect all of us. I am proud of the investigative team for a seizure of this magnitude. We will continue to actively pursue these criminals and incapacitate their networks.” – OPP Deputy Commissioner Marty Kearns
