The Main Street rehabilitation project is moving into the next block.
City officials say the contractor is transitioning operations from the first phase, between Sherbrooke and Wyld streets to the next block of Main, between Wyld and Ferguson streets.
Once the switch is made, the existing interlocking brick and curb will be removed.
“Block 5 (Sherbrooke to Wyld streets), which is nearing substantial completion, will fully reopen to both vehicles and pedestrians,” states a release. “The contractor will return to this block later to install trees, benches, and festoon lighting, as well as new streetlight poles, which have been delayed due to manufacturer supply challenges. The supplier is committed to providing an updated delivery date late next month.”
Officials say temporary lighting will be installed to ensure a safe and well-lit environment for pedestrians.
