Laurier Woods closure pushed back again

Contractor availability is once again resulting in the temporary closure of the Laurier Woods Conservation Area being delayed.

That from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, which says the woods are now expected to close Monday, Sept. 25.

Originally slated to begin right after Labour Day, the nearly $69,000 project was pushed back to Sept. 18.

The two boardwalks on the main trail are being replaced.

The good news is that the conservation authority says the project is still expected to be completed by Oct. 15.

Both the Friends of Laurier Woods and the conservation authority, who co-own the conservation area ask that the public refrain from entering Laurier Woods for any reason during the closure.

Signs will be posted at both the Brule Street and Laurier Avenue entrances to the woods.
